A 60ft Thunderbird 3 rocket which for years has stood on Blackpool's Promenade, next to the Pleasure Beach, has been sold for an undisclosed five-figure sum.
The iconic focal point was one of several of Blackpool's most famous Illuminations to be sold off at auction yesterday.
Although the sale price has not been disclosed, the sum is rumoured to be at least £10,000.
And the popular feature was the item that brought in the most cash from the sale.
Lights from years gone by were up for grabs as Blackpool Council's Illuminations department got rid of some of it's iconic decorations from the past to raise cash.
Other items to go under the hammer included a five foot tall pink pony and seven horses that used to light Gynn Square carousel.
The sale is expected to raise £30,000 for future Illuminations projects.
