FINISHING touches are being made to a popular village pub and restaurant which is to re-open this week.

Rachael Andrews and her team at the Spread Eagle in Mellor have spent the last three months perfecting the pub’s interior and ensuring everything is in place to welcome customers back through the doors.

The pub was taken over by Greene King back in January and is to operate under their country inn arm, Chef & Brewer.

Ms Andrews, general manager, said: “The pub has been closed for around three months, since Friday 14th January. Since then, we’ve been working hard to build a brilliant team staff and make sure our stunning renovation is completed on time.

“We can’t wait to welcome guests back and show off our brand-new food and drink offering too.

“We’re in a beautiful spot overlooking the Ribble Valley so we really wanted to show off the incredible walking paths nearby. We’re also dog friendly, so you can head in to the bar with your four legged friends or relax on our terrace and enjoy a pint after a long walk.”

The pub’s interior has undergone a major make-over, with a more defined split now noticeable between the bar and dining area.

The colour-scheme of dark teal blues, grey and wood creates a cosy feel in the bar area, where small tables can be found to unwind at after a long walk in the Ribble Valley countryside.

In the dining area the breathtaking views of Longridge Fell and the surrounding countryside still steal the show, as they do outside on the large terrace.

The food offering, though changed, offers a wide-variety of dishes for all tastes and budgets.

Bosses have also unveiled a brand new brunch menu, which will be available on the weekends between 10 and 1130am and features dishes such as fresh pancakes, baked eggs or a full English. Vegetarian and vegan options are available too.

Another noticeable change is the fact the pub will now be open seven days a week, as opposed to the previous five.

And while regulars will recognise many familiar faces, some new staff have also been recruited to help the pub move into its new chapter.

Ms Andrews added: “I’ve been with The Spread Eagle for eight years, so I know first-hand how much locals love and cherish this pub.

“The whole team are excited to reopen our doors and welcome back both old regulars and new customers alike”

The pub officially reopens on Monday, April 25, and bookings can be made on their website.
