A dessert shop, best known for its multi-topping doughnuts, is opening a new branch in East Lancashire.

The Chai Guys, which currently has two stores in Nelson, in coming to Great Harwood  promising to bring a “new taste adventure” to the high street.

The new Queen Street branch will be a dessert shop “with a twist” in that it will also sell savoury snacks, curries and other hot food alongside its sweet offerings.

Ashaan Zaroof, director of the business, said he has decided to branch out due to the popularity of the business.

He said: “We have two sites in Nelson and they have done really well in the local area so the plan is to branch out.

“We also have a lot of customers in Great Harwood who travel up to Nelson just to visit us, so it made sense to open here.”

The Great Harwood branch is currently undergoing renovations and Ashaan hopes it will be up and running by the start of May.

He said: “The booths are going in this week, stock is ordered and the shop is almost ready to go. We just need a couple more working days and we should be up and running.“

Since posting the news to their social media channels, Ashaan said they have been “flooded” with messages from hundreds of excited customers.

“Customers are over the moon,” he said. “Many have been enquiring about employment too as we have six to eight jobs up for grabs at the new shop.

“If everything goes to plan we might even be able to expand in Great Harwood in the future.”

The current menu looks mouth-watering and Ashaan says there will be something for everyone to enjoy.

He said: “This Great Harwood branch has a twist. We will be selling a bit of everything including hot food, sweet food and savoury food.

“We are probably best known for our doughnuts, which we cover in a variety of toppings…  but we also sell homemade Kinder and Biscoff brownies, milkshakes, ice cream, hot drinks and more.

“We will also be selling hot food, such as Asian style curries which will be made on the premises and will be available to take away.”

Also on the menu will be the popular milkcakes, which Ashaan says “fly off the shelves”.

Ashaan said: “We are bringing milkcakes to town. We’ve been selling them since we started and they sell so well – people love them."

Ashaan said the business go “above and beyond” for customers and “only sell unique food” which is why he thinks they have secured a high 5.3/6 rating on Just Eat.

“What we do is very different, Ashaan said. “We don’t supply average food. We go above and beyond for customers – and you need to taste the food yourself to see why it is a 10 out of 10.”
