AN East Lancashire heart-throb will return for a new series of Netflix show, Emily in Paris, and has also been promoted to a series regular.

Lucien Laviscount, from Read, featured in series two of the popular Netflix comedy-drama show.

Lucien, 29, played a character called Alfie who was Emily’s (Lily Collins) love interest.

Fans quickly fell in love with the character and begged for his return in season three.

Now, fans can celebrate as the show’s executive producer, Darren Star, has confirmed his return at a panel discussion in America.

Speaking at PaleyFest, Darren confirmed the former Ribblesdale High School pupil will now be a main cast member and is likely to play a significant role in the upcoming third and fourth seasons.

When asked if he was free for filming, which commences in June, Lucien said: “I'm free! I'm pretty sure I'm free.”

Speaking about her co-star on the panel, Lily said: "You know, he didn't audition.

"He sent a tape in and Darren showed it to me. And right away it was just so apparent that was Alfie.

"Without any conversation we just saw it and like we jumped on the Zoom and just had a conversation for like 45 minutes and you felt really comfortable which is so crazy to hear that you were super nervous.

“Even on day one I was like he's like the new guy and he's so cool. What is going on? And every single person on the crew made a point from the hair and makeup department to the grips to the cameraman everyone was like, the new guy is so cool and so nice.

"You just fit right in like you had been there before."

Emily in Paris has been renewed for seasons three and four.

It is a popular show and the second series reached Netflix’s top 10 list in 94 countries since airing in December.

The show is centred on marketing executive Emily Cooper, played by Lily Collins, who is hired to provide an American perspective at a marketing firm in Paris.

It is not the first time the former Ribblesdale High School and Clitheroe Royal Grammar Sixth Form pupil has been on our screens.

He starred in several TV series and soaps between 2007 and 2011, including Grange Hill, Coronation Street and Waterloo Road.

Speaking to the Lancashire Telegraph in 2006, Lucien said: “Hopefully I will be in Grange Hill for a few years and after that I want to get into films.

“I would love to make it big in America or Britain”.
