Demolition of The Vulcan, Blackburn, 1993
THIS photo records the last days of a Blackburn pub which played a key role in the town’s nightlife during the Seventies and Eighties
The Vulcan on Nab Lane was part of the Barbary Coast, a series of pubs including the George and Dragon, the Jubilee and the Ribblesdale which formed a circuit for those looking for a good night out.
The Vulcan was very much a student pub - it was situated across the road from the then Technical College, now Blackburn College and was known for its juke box.
This picture shows the Vulcan being demolished in June 1993.
