Fire crews attended two crashes within two hours of each other on Friday.

At around 2.20pm, crews from Hyndburn and Rawtenstall were called to a two-car crash on Bury Road in Haslingden.

It is believed one vehicle had ended up on its side.

Firefighters said no-one was injured in the incident and they remained at the scene to make sure all was safe.

A spokesperson for the fire service said: "At 2.22pm on April 8, two fire engines from Hyndburn and Rawtenstall attended a road traffic collision on Bury Road, Haslingden.

"The incident involved two vehicles.

"One casualty was released from their vehicle by firefighters.

"Crews were in attendance for approximately twenty minutes."

The second incident occurred less than a mile away, just before 4.20pm, on Blackburn Road.

Again, two fire engines, one from Rawtenstall and one from Hyndburn were called to the crash, which involved two cars.

Firefighters said one car left the road before hitting another.

Luckily, no injuries were reported here either.

The spokesperson added: "At 4.18pm on April 8, two fire engines from Rawtenstall and Hyndburn attended a road traffic collision on Blackburn Road, Haslingden.

"The incident involved two vehicles.

"Firefighters provided first aid for one casualty and worked to make the scene safe.

"They used a first aid kit and a hearth kit at this incident and were in attendance for approximately half an hour."

The police attended both incidents but no road closures were put in place and traffic was flowing steadily.
