Britain’s largest family is about to embark on a dream holiday to Florida – but only if Covid tests and Manchester Airport queues don’t get in the way.

Morecambe-based Radford family posted their "most tense vlog ever" yesterday (5 April) where they anxiously awaited the results of 16 Covid tests to see if they are able to fly to Florida or if they will have to postpone.

In the video, Sue said: “Today is the day that we all have to do our Covid tests that are witnessed through a Zoom call.

“I can’t even begin to tell you how nervous I am about these tests.

“If someone is positive we can’t go we will have to rearrange it.”

The Radfords, who spent around £500 on the tests, said they were also worried about facing Manchester Airport’s lengthy queues.

Sue said: “It won’t be the end of the world if we do have to postpone it. The situation at Manchester Airport at the moment is an absolute nightmare.

“It is taking around three hours to get through security and check-in takes an hour.

“There’s 16 of us so you can well double that. It will probably be about five hours for us and by that time, we will have missed our flight. I’m not wanting to go through that I must admit.

“So I am thinking it won’t be the end of the world if one of us does test positive, we can just rearrange it late in the year – but the kids will be devastated."

Sue said she “wished” she had researched America’s entry requirements beforehand.

She said: “If I’d have known how nervous I was going to be I don’t think I’d have booked it.”

After four sets of witnessed Covid tests and battles with some of the younger children to get their noses swabbed, the Radfords all had their results back – and it was good news.

Sue said: “We’re all negative – we’re going to America. I cannot believe that we’re actually going on holiday. We got through all the Covid tests and everything is done.”

While travelling to a Hilton hotel before their early departure, Sue said they faced further issues with the Manchester Airport website and had problems checking in, which she worried would only add to the queues and disruption.

Sue said: “I was on the phone trying to get through [to Manchester Airport] for an hour and ten minutes.

“We did eventually manage to add all the suitcases but we couldn't check in over the phone so we'll have to check in when we get there.

"Hopefully that doesn't hold us up, she didn't seem to think it would do, we've got our seats and everything."
