Policed are looking into a 'suspicious' incident in which three teenagers entered a charity shop attempting to 'sell' an e-scooter.

Officers were contacted by Pendleside Hospice Charity shop in Barrowford after three teenage boys entered the shop on Saturday and tried to sell staff an e-scooter.

When staff told the boys that wasn't how charity shops worked they ran off leaving the scooter behind.

Police now believe that the e-scooter may have been stolen and are asking anyone who has any information to get in touch.

A spokesperson for the police said: "We have been contacted by Pendleside Hospice Charity shop in Barrowford who have informed us of some rather suspicious circumstances whereby three teenage boys attended the shop on Saturday with an electric scooter attempting to sell it to the shop staff.

"When they were told that charity shops don’t work that way, that they rely on donations and that they would need to speak to their parents about this, the boys then ran off leaving the electric scooter behind.

"It is unknown who the e-scooter belongs to, whether this was an innocent situation or whether the e-scooter had been taken from another youth.

"Pendleside Hospice Charity shop would like to return the e-scooter to its rightful owner.

"If you believe you know who this e-scooter could belong to then please either contact myself on 7347@lancashire.police.uk or the store direct.

"A detailed description of the e-scooter and proof of ownership will be required in order for it to be released."
