EACH week we put the spotlight on local venues in our Pub of the Week feature.
This time we have spoken to Sean Forshaw about a well-known Oswaldtwistle pub which has just undergone a makeover.
Name of the pub
White Bull
Address of the pub:
166 New Lane, Oswaldtwistle
Landlord/landlady name:
Sean Forshaw and Erika Kuti
How long have you been the landlord/landlady for?
Few months, been a chef for 20 years running pubs, restaurants and hotels across North West
Bar staff and their names:
Max, Eleanor, Callam
Give us some history about the pub
We have Just had a refurbishment. Making it a bit more family friendly and homely. We are more premium with the offering compared to other pubs in the area. It makes us a destination venue for special occasions but we also cater for casual drinkers or a quick stop for a burger and a sandwich.
The reaction to our refurb has been great and we couldn’t have asked for anything better. People dine with us and re-book at the end of the meal for the following week.
Is food served? Is so what’s on the menu?
Yes,we have few light bites, pub classics and an a la carte menu which all changes frequently.
Is there a beer garden
Yes to the side.
Do you have any darts/snooker/pool teams
No. We are more of a food led pub
The Most popular drink that we serve is:
Moretti, 13 Guns
Most memorable moment at the pub
Mother’s day – was one of the busiest since we opened and everyone left happy
Do you have an entertainment line-up?
Not at the moment but we are planning a special Jubilee weekend with live bands and afternoon teas
Have you faced any challenges within the industry
The rising prices across the board from utilities to cost of food suppliers.
It’s difficult to balance out the selling point as if we go too high customers don’t return and too low we don’t make money
The best thing about running a pub is
Speaking to and knowing people from the community
The worst thing about running a pub is..
The long hours.
The perfect hangover cure is...
Bloody Mary
