Preston: Channel 4 searching for locals who need DIY help for new show

A new Channel 4 programme is coming to Preston and wants to help tackle people’s DIY challenges and repair or repurpose treasured items. 

Tool Club, by Beezr Studios and Spark North production companies, brings together a team of creative experts to help people take on everything from challenging home projects, to small repair jobs, and upcycling. 

Since the start of the pandemic, Brits have spent billions on doing up their homes and gardens.

For some homeowners, however, not having the skills to carry out the work has left them with botched jobs, or a DIY to-do-list that’s never getting done.

Tool Club aims to upskill the nation in all things DIY, so viewers really can learn to do it themselves.  

As well as visiting people’s houses to help with projects, there will also be the opportunity for people to bring items to a converted double-decker bus that serves as a mobile workshop.

The team of experts on hand at the Tool Bus include renowned up-cycler Max McMurdo, expert carpenter Julia Miller-Osborn, and excellent all-rounder Jessica Grizzel.

The bus will act as a base for the team to demonstrate practical DIY skills, tips and hacks. 

The production team is looking for homeowners, with their own small budget for a project, who would like to benefit from expert help to carry out, correct, or complete the job.

Alternatively, people can bring items to bring to the Tool Bus to be restored, repurposed, or reupholstered.

“It’s going to be packed with tips and tricks that the entire nation can learn and take away with them”.
