THE make-up of a new development within a business park is to be altered after changes to the plans were granted.

Michael Renwick has been given planning permission to rejig the three business units he is constructing on the sprawling Altham Industrial Estate.

In September 2020 his company Metcalf Drive Ltd, of Marathon House, Whalley, was given the go-ahead by Hyndburn Council planners to construct the buildings.

The buildings in Metcalf Drive were to house a total of eight business units - one with three, one with a single unit and one with four.

Now Mr Renwick has been given permission to subdivide the building with four units into six bringing the total in the new development to 10.

A planning officer's report recommending approval says: "A new development of business units is under construction; the development comprises three buildings.

"Two (housing unit 8 and units 1 to 3 respectively) front Metcalf Drive. The third building (indicated as units 4 to 7) is set parallel to units 1 to 3 across an intervening service yard providing access to loading doors and parking for each of the units.

"The application seeks to vary the terms of the planning permission granted to enable sub-division into smaller units.

"Briefly, one of the three building originally granted would be changed from four to six units (on the same footprint) with consequential changes to the forecourt/apron parking and loading detailing and re-arrangement of openings in the building.

"The proposed development would enable the operational flexibility sought by the developer without harm to the operation of the estate."

Planning permission was granted subject to six conditions.
