A MAN has been jailed after showing a ‘flagrant disregard’ for a restraining order imposed on him.
Blackburn Magistrates’ Court heard on February 7 how Duncan Newbiggin, of Blackburn Road, Great Harwood, breached the order between December 1 and February 5 in Rossendale.
The 46-year-old visited an address on Turnpike Road, Waterfoot, and contacted his victim, which he was prohibited from doing by a restraining order imposed by Preston Magistrates’ Court on January 3, 2020.
Newbiggin pleaded guilty to harassment and has been sent to prison on a 16 week sentence.
The reason for the custodial sentence, magistrates said, was due to Newbiggin displaying ‘a flagrant disregard for court orders’ in breaching the restraining order.
