A FOOD and drink festival is heading to an East Lancashire town this Easter.
Darwen Bars and Leisure is hosting and organising the Darwen Food and Drinks Festival on Easter Sunday, April 17.
Located on Darwen market square, the event will bring a host of business and brands together for the people of Darwen, Blackburn and further afield to enjoy.
Five per cent of all profits made from the event are being donated to the Youth Zone Darwen project.
A spokesman for the food and drinks festival said: "The festival is orientated around bringing a wide and varied selection all different styles and types of foods and drinks to one place for the public to enjoy.
"A huge marquee will be erected covering the majority of the market town square which will then house a stage with live acoustic music perfomers throughout the day, food vendors serving a range of different cuisines, and eight individual different brewing companies hosting a range of ciders, craft beers, ales, IPA's, and gins.
"This is just part of the event with another host of food vendors based outside the marquee with even more selections of food, including Greek dishes, BBQ style/smoked beef brisket, Spanish desserts, oven-baked pizzas, coffee, cakes and much more.
"We have received a great response on the event page online and one of the main objectives of this event is to bring the people of the town, and even further afield together for a great day to remember."
Some of the breweries which will be participating in the food and drink festival include Theakstons, Seven Brothers, Brew York, Lilleys Cider, Timothy Taylor and Three B's.
Acoustic artists from all around the north west as well as Darwen School of Music will be filling a two-hour slot with several performances from their students.
The event will run from 2pm until 10pm, with the initial set up and site build starting on Saturday, April 16.
The event is free for the public to attend and will hopefully grow into what is to become a highly anticipated and well-known food and drink festival in the region.
The festival site is easily accessible by rail with Darwen Train Station just a two-minute walk away from the site, and it is also close to the M65.
