DOMINO'S Pizza say their delivery driver was "post shift" when he was stopped for driving while high on cannabis on Friday night (March 4) and that an internal investigation has now been launched.

The Ford Fiesta driver tasked with delivering pizza was pulled over by officers when he was seen to be driving at "excessive speed".

According to police, he smelt strongly of cannabis and was drug tested, which returned a positive result.

The offender was arrested at the scene.

A spokesperson for Domino's disputes that their driver was officially working at the time but Lancashire police maintain he was, saying: "We’ve looked into this and he told our officer he was making his final delivery."

The Domino's Pizza spokesperson said: "The safety of the public and our colleagues is our main priority when our drivers are out delivering pizzas.

"All our delivery drivers complete comprehensive safe driving training when they join our business, and on the rare occasion we see an incident like this we address it immediately with the store and driver involved.

"The issue is currently being investigated internally with the store team, and we will of course support the police with any enquiries they have."
