IT is the day of the year when children and teachers dress up as Harry Potter, Gangsta Granny, Mary Poppins or Willy Wonka.
Thursday is World Book Day so we have delved into our archives and found great images from years gone by of people having fun on the day in East Lancashire.
World Book Day was created by UNESCO on April 23, 1995 as a worldwide celebration of books and reading. It is marked in more than 100 countries across the globe.
The first World Book Day in the UK and Ireland took place in 1997 to encourage young people to discover the pleasure of reading.
Lots of us will have had fun either taking part in the festivities or watching our children and maybe grandchildren dressing up on the day.
We are looking to produce a supplement in the Lancashire Telegraph of kids taking part this year.
If you would like to post your photo then check out our online story and attach them through the assignment.
Send us your photographs of your children dressing up for World Book Day
We want to see your photographs of the children dressing up for World Book Day as we are producing a supplement in the paper of some of the finest entries
