A petrol price war has broken out in Blackburn with motorists queuing round the block to try and secure the cheapest fuel.
On Friday night, the BP garage at the junction of Preston New Road and the top of Montague Street was selling petrol for £1.55.9 per litre, while diesel was on sale for £1.62.9 per litre.
Meanwhile, less than a mile away, at the junction with Crosshill Road, the Esso garage was selling unleaded for £1.46.9 per litre, and diesel for £1.52.9 per litre, a massive difference of nine pence and 10 pence respectively.
An angry passer-by said: "There's two different petrol stations within a mile of each other on the same road selling fuel for different prices.
"People are queuing off the forecourt for the cheaper fuel, it's mental.
"What the hell is going on? A few pence is understandable but 10p difference is just ridiculous."
Experts have recently expressed their fears over the conflict between Russia and Ukraine disrupting oil supplies, which could lead to a rise in fuel prices.
The cost of household bills is also set to rise when rates increase in April, and elsewhere, the rising cost of some types of food is already being noticed at the supermarket tills.
