WORK has got under way on a new £1m marina in Burnley.
Diggers moved in and started work on the 16 acres of land behind Barden Mill store in Barden Lane.
The 102 berth marina is expected to be completed by August this year.
On site there will be a shower room with toilets, a small tea room and shop on site for visitors to use.
And the development will mean that visitors travelling along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal can stay at the site overnight or lease a space for a year.
Plans had to be approved by both Pendle and Burnley councils as the land falls in both boroughs.
Both councils approved the plans in December, saying that they believe it will help boost tourism in the area.
Berths will cost £1,750 plus VAT per annum.
