Blackburn comedian, Tez Ilyas, had a chaotic day yesterday (9 February) after facing some car troubles while travelling to his Blackburn home.

After returning from a trip abroad Tez found his car wouldn't start and a series of chaotic, and often hilarious, tweets followed as the comedian faced pitfall after pitfall.

Tez, 38, documented the eight hour 'ordeal' to his 60,000 Twitter followers who laughed, joked and sympathized with him along the way.

He posted a tweet which said: “Just got back from my trip and I don’t know who has given me the evil eye, but my car won’t start

“I have up to a 90min wait for assistance. Entertain me.”

When the tow truck arrived, engineers discovered the cause of Tez’s car troubles – a flat battery and a faulty fob which meant it will have to get towed.

Eager to get a second opinion, Tez contacted another roadside assistance company.

In a tweet he said: “Sent the tow guy away as my friend told me to call [another roadside assistance company]

“They identified the issue, but couldn’t fix it.

“He’s now called a guy to tow it for me, which will probably end up being the guy I sent away.”

With his upcoming gig at Hot Water Comedy Club in Liverpool looming, Tez requested a courtesy car – and pulled a special ‘celebrity card’ in order to do so.

He said: “The company rang me and told me that I can’t get a car tonight and for the first time in my life… I pulled the Tez Ilyas card. Which worked. I have a car for tonight.

“Provided the guy to tow me comes at a decent time to get me back to Blackburn, I should be able to pick up the car and head to Liverpool in time for the gig.

“Moral of the story… never work abroad.”

However, the story doesn’t end there as more issues with the towing service surfaced.

Tez said: “Tow guy is here – but he’s not going to Blackburn until tomorrow. As it’s late so where do I go?”

Posting a picture of the tow truck and a video at 6pm, Tez wrote: “Running out of battery… I haven’t even brushed my teeth.”

After two towing companies argues about who should pay for the fare home, the former Witton Park High School pupil finally set off in a taxi around an hour later.

He said: “In a taxi. We’ve only just set off cos the taxi driver’s arguing with base about why the fare’s so low.

“He’s vexed,” he added posting an audio clip of a disgruntled driver on the phone.

Tez, Tez, star of BBC Three sitcom Man Like Mobeen and host of the Tez O’Clock Show on Channel 4, later added: “My battery died by the way. Before the taxi man came. That was tense.”

At 9pm, around eight hours after his first tweet, Tez managed to make it back home.

He said: “Finally back home. Got a courtesy car. Anyway… about to jump in the shower then have to Oscar foxtrtot to Liverpool for
@HWCCLiverpool

After the gig Tez posted a picture of himself with  unstyled hair and wrote: “Can’t believe I had to go on stage with this hair… But gig done and @HWCCLiverpool was a dream as per usual”.

After being ‘on the go’ for 27 hours, Tez said: “Finally home. I’m so tired. Sleep”.

Some of Tez’s loyal fans were eager to comment on the stressful saga.

One person said: “With that level of stress I’m glad you’ve got your portable defibrillators ready.

“Good luck with the car,” said another. “Hopefully it’s an easy fix!”

“Could have bought a bike from amazon and gotten the delivery guy to pick you up?” joked another.

Another said: “All this grief to get back to Blackburn forgetting that your destination at the end of all this is... Blackburn!”
