As the Queen celebrates her 70th year on the throne, we look back over her visits to East Lancashire.

Today (February 6) marks 70 years since King George VI died in February 1952, marking the start of the then 25-year-old Elizabeth taking the throne.

The Queen has visited Blackburn on a number of occasions including a Maundy Thursday celebration in 2014 and a town visit in 1955, three years after she took the throne.

Her coronation was held in 1953 and the celebrations of her Silver, Golden, and Diamond Jubilees in 1977, 2002, and 2012 respectively.

In 2017, she became the first British monarch to reach a Sapphire Jubilee and is the oldest monarch to hold the throne.

Here is a selection of photos of the Queen during her Blackburn visits.
