TV chef, James Martin, visited Langho this week to take part in a dining festival.

The chef, who is best known for presenting James Martin’s Saturday Morning on ITV, has been cooking up a storm at Langho’s Michelin star restaurant, Northcote.

He is just one of 16 chefs taking part in the Obsession festival, which is known as one of the most prestigious and internationally recognised gourmet festivals in Europe.

During the event, which kicked off on 21 January, world-class chefs who hold 15 Michelin stars between them, travel from all four corners of the country to cook at the Lancashire hotel and restaurant.

James descended on the restaurant on Wednesday (2 February) and his menu featured plenty of seafood dishes including “fragrant Asian-inspired scallops”, crab risotto, as well as lobster and seabass roll.

‘Ceviche of monkfish’, servied with Elderflower Sour Cream, Cucumber and Pumpkin & Verjus Sauvignon Blanc was also on the menu.

Pictures have emerged of Lisa and James in the kitchen, preparing to take on a busy night of cooking.

In one picture, “self-confessed petrol heads” James and Lisa stepped out of the kitchen to admire a 1908 Brasier Voiture de Course which was brought to Northcote by Tom Hardman Limited.

Michelin star chef, Tom Kerridge, made his debut yesterday (3 February).

Obsession launched 2001 as a celebration of great food, wine and a meeting of friends, old and new. From that first event, it has evolved but the ethos is still very much the same; to offer guests a completely memorable culinary experience, created by some of the world’s most innovative chefs.

Lisa Goodwin-Allen, executive chef at Northcote said; “Obsession 22 is particularly special. After having to cancel this year’s festival due to the pandemic and with the hospitality industry taking such a hit, we’re all ready to put on a show of culinary brilliance.

“This year it was only right to bring all corners of Britain and Ireland together, focusing on the incredible talent that we have on our shores, but still with an injection of different styles of cooking, different regional ingredients and different flavours.

“We have some great emerging chefs like Alex Bond, and much-loved household names, as well as some of the UK’s best female chefs, joining us.”
