Despite only opening less than three years ago, a countryside hotel and spa in Burnley is cementing itself as one of the best in the region – especially when it comes to weddings.

Crow Wood Hotel and Spa on Holme Road is set on 40 acres of private parkland and guests can enjoy views of Pendle Hill as well as the luxe on-site facilities.

With 76 luxurious bedrooms and suites, "unrivalled" wedding and conference facilities, acclaimed chefs and the multi award-winning Woodland Spa, it is already fast becoming the hotel, spa & wedding venue of choice for couples.

Crow Wood opened in October 2019, just five months before coronavirus lockdown plunged the wedding industry into chaos.

Since then, when restrictions allowed it, the hotel has hosted more than 80 weddings.

Paige Mallabourn, senior wedding planner at the hotel, said: “We’re the new kid on the block when it comes to weddings and we haven’t even had a full year of bookings yet.

“In 2020 we only had one wedding due to Covid restrictions – but we have still won some awards.”

So far, the venue has already scooped two prestigious awards, one for ‘Newcomer of the Year’ in Lancashire at the Wedding Industry Awards; the team will be heading to London in the coming weeks to compete for the national title.

Their latest win came from the Hitched Wedding Awards which recognises excellence offered by wedding businesses in the UK, and signify a trusted seal of approval for couples planning their weddings.

Crow Wood was named best Large Hotel Wedding Venue in Lancashire.

Paige said the unique design of the hotel and spa really makes it stand out from the rest.

She said: “The venue literally has everything as it was purpose built for weddings and we took the guest’s journey into perspective when we built the venue.

“We knew we needed a big room with gardens, a drinks reception in a specific place, a nice big walk through.

“Couples have asked me about the venue’s downfalls and I just don’t have any – I really haven’t found any.”

Crow Wood Leisure's multi-award winning spa, which was built in 2013, is just a “stroll” away from the hotel.

The Woodland Spa is set within 100 acres of peaceful Lancashire countryside.

Here, you can enjoy a ‘thermal experience’ or another luxury treatment which aims to make you feel rested and relaxed.

Paige said: “We have a spa so people like to make a full weekend of their visit.

“Guests can wake up in their bridal suite or room and just relax for an extra day.”

The dining experience at Crow Wood is also said to be exceptional.

Wilfred’s Restaurant is described as a “stylish yet welcoming dining venue” with its own alfresco terrace.

The food has an Italian theme and puts a modern twist on ethnic dishes - and also a venue where you can get a top-notch Sunday roast.

Last year, it was awarded a rosette in AA’s ‘The Restaurant Guide 2022’ with inspectors saying that Wilfred’s “has a rich, plush, sophisticated appeal”.

Only the finest ingredients are prepared with passion by the locally renowned chefs and transformed into “unmistakable signature dishes”.

Guests can enjoy their breakfast as the light streams through the floor to ceiling windows.

After dinner, kick back in The Lobby Bar and enjoy a nightcap of choice before heading to bed in the evening.

The restaurant has also received high praise in online reviews.

One customer said: “Don’t deprive yourself of the opportunity to treat yourself to one of the best restaurants in Lancashire. Superb ambiance, decor, food, service and overall experience.”

Another wrote: “Service was absolutely amazing, the staff couldn’t do enough for you, the food was delicious, I would highly recommend this place.”

Bertram’s Restaurant, which is located within The Woodland Spa, is also not to be missed.

The critically acclaimed restaurant is a unique and modern adult-only restaurant and cocktail bar.

In 2020, it was awarded a Traveller's Choice award from Trip Advisor. In 2021 it was awarded two rosettes in AA's restaurant guide.

For anyone thinking about staying, particularly for a wedding, Paige implores you to visit them in person.

She said: "Just come and visit us. The venue will speak for itself."
