Quick thinking officers were able to locate a stolen van on false plates as it was moved across the county.
The Transit van, pictured, was stolen from Blackpool at around 10pm on Saturday.
Officers say that they used local knowledge combined with a 'copper's nose' to find it on false plates in Rishton a short while later.
Enquiries are ongoing to find the offenders.
A police spokesperson said on Sunday: "This Transit was stolen from Blackpool around 10pm last night and using local knowledge combined with a hint of ‘copper’s nose’, Team One Tac Ops officers found it on false plates in Rishton a short while later.
"Enquiries are ongoing to identify the offenders."
