People living in Blackburn may have suffered with low water pressure or no water at all on Thursday night.
United Utilities were called to Queens Park Road at around 8pm to carry out repairs to a water main which was causing issues for people in the area.
At 8.24pm, the water company issued an update which read: "We're progressing with the repairs to our water main on Queens Park Road, but we still have work to do to get things back up and running.
"We're really sorry for any inconvenience this is causing, thanks for your patience."
Despite their best efforts, by 10pm the repairs had still not been completed with engineers saying they would need to return on Friday morning to carry out further work.
A second update sat 10.13pm stated: "The repair is trickier than we first thought, we’ve been out to take a look at the issue and we will need to return in the morning to carry out further work to get this resolved.
"In the meantime, our fleet of water tankers will remain in the area keeping your taps flowing and toilets flushing until the repair is complete.
"Thank you for your patience and understanding whilst we resolve this matter.
"We will keep you updated here as we progress with the work."
