Football fans will have the chance to swap their half-time pies for a chicken tikka biryani when a new menu item goes on sale at Ewood Park next month.

Blackburn Rovers is to start selling the chicken tikka biryanis, made by The Catering Co, based in the town, at their games in February, with the launch expected at their home game against Millwall on February 19.

The Catering Co is based in Whalley Range, and is a family-run business that caters for weddings, parties, and other events.

Posting on Twitter, Yasir Sufi, the integration and development manager at Rovers said: "Rovers fans. Opinions needed...

"Would you swap your pie for a chicken tikka biryani?

"Just to let you know I've tried it and it tastes amazing.

"Looking at introducing it on all concourses at the Milwall game..."

It's believed the creation of the biryani for avid football fans has taken nine months of research, trials, and product and packaging development.

Emblazoned with the famous Blackburn Rovers logo, and the colours white and blue dominating the tray, the meals are expected to be sold for around £4 or £5.

Rovers currently sells Clayton Park pies from their kiosks, as well as other match-day snacks.
