A pensioner has been taken to hospital after crashing into a stationary car earlier this morning leaving Whalley Old Road closed.
The woman in her 70s crashed a silver Ford into a stationary vehicle on Whalley Old Road, just off Whitebirk Drive, with police being called at about 9.50am – with a road closure remaining in place at this time.
An ambulance was called, and the woman was taken to hospital. The ambulance service said it is unclear how serious her injuries are.
A spokesperson for the police said: “We were called at 9.50am after a woman in her 70s crashed a silver Ford into a stationary vehicle.
“She was taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment.”
A spokesperson for the ambulance service said: “We were called at 9.44am this morning. One ambulance attended and a woman in her 70s was taken to hospital.
“It is unclear how serious her injuries are.”
