A GISBURN Primary schoolboy has raised more than £700 for Burnley-based community charity, Burnley Together.

Zach Lancaster, first became aware of the charity and the people they support after his school asked pupils to bring food in as part of their annual Harvest Festival, with items to be donated to Burnley Together.

Zach set himself a personal challenge to run 2K every day throughout the month of October.

He committed to this and was out running every single day, and sometimes in the evening, come rain or shine. It wasn’t always easy, but the end goal kept him motivated.

By sharing his challenge with fellow pupils, friends, and family, and asking for monetary donations via his JustGiving page, Zach has, to date, managed to raise more than £730 for Burnley together.

He said: “It was tough getting up in the dark before school, but I really wanted to help those people who have less than me. I never imagined we could raise that much though. I’m so happy that so many people sponsored me, it’s a really great amount!”
