A MAJOR facelift resulted in this little slice of greenery being created in Blackburn in 1973.
The photo shows the area around what was known as Green Park after landscaping had taken place and the railings removed from the canal towpath to open up the area for nearby Mill Hill and Ewood residents. Saplings had also been planted to bring a little bit of nature on to land among the terraces
In the background, to the left, you can see the imposing buildings of Blackburn Royal Infirmary.
