A man wanted in connection with an assault where another man was stabbed in the neck has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Lee Hart was being sought by police in connection to the incident which happened in Burnley in December.

Following public appeals, Hart was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder on Saturday.

A spokesperson for the police said: "A man wanted by police in connection with a serious assault in Burnley has been arrested.

"Lee Hart, 38, was wanted in connection with a stabbing in Clifton Street in the early hours of December 16 where a 43-year-old man suffered a wound to the neck.

"Following several public appeals for information, Hart was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder yesterday (Saturday, January 22) in Oxford.

"He is currently in custody.

"Thank you to everyone who shared our appeals to find him."
