A TEENAGER who had been drinking at home took the "foolish" decision to take his mum's car for a spin.

Blackburn magistrates heard his run out didn't last long before he lost control and got the car stuck on a bank.

Amir Jameel, 18, of Columbia Way, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol, without insurance and other than in accordance with a licence. He was banned from driving for 14 months, fined £120 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £34 victim surcharge.

Stacey Morrow, prosecuting, said police received a report of a crash at 6 am on Beardwood in Blackburn.

When they arrived Jameel and two of his friends were trying to push the car off an embankment. Jameel admitted he had been the driver and later gave a breathalyser reading of 43 against the legal limit of 35.

Aftab Bakhat, defending, said his client lost his good character as a result of a foolish decision made after he had been drinking.

"He had only travelled around the corner when the accident occurred," said Mr Bakhat.
