Mellor Brook 1971
THE proximity to photographer to the traffic makes this picture from 1971 possibly look more dramatic than it actually was.
But it shows Mellor Brook taken from the junction of Whalley Road with Mellor Brow off to the left.
The Feilden’s Arms is on the right and on the left you can just see the turning for Branch Road.
Today, there is a mini-roundabout at the junction and Whalley Road is no longer the direct road through the village. Drivers now have to give way when approaching Mellor Brow.
