THE Lancashire Telegraph reported that Boris Johnson could face a vote of no confidence after an angry chorus from his own MPs about a party being held at Downing Street during lockdown.

Reports on Tuesday night suggested MPs furious at the Prime Minister’s handling of the partygate scandal engulfing Westminster had been angered further by Mr Johnson’s insistence that nobody had told him a party at Downing Street would break rules he himself had set.

Our readers have been reacting to the news, here are just some of the comments posted online.

Dang Lin-Wang said: "He and his colleagues partied while the rest of us stayed home isolated from loved ones and friends. We followed the rules, he didn't. He's a disgrace. Get rid!"

Dangerous Dave said: "No doubt many parties during lockdown but the point is he is the Prine Minister and should lead by example. As I have posted a few times from a position of strength he has shot himself and his party in the foot and damaged limitation is called for- time for bubbling Boris to go and now before its too late."

danskeblaa said: "Shame but he brought it all on himself. Now a figure of ridicule and all authority gone. You just can't believe a word he says anymore.

Adam Barlow said: "Who are they pushing to replace him? This pantomime is getting boring.

Roverino said: "The enquiry is only going to come to some technical viewpoint as to why rules (which are open to interpretation) were broken or not. It will be twisted to say that 'well technically nothing was broken but it probably wasn't the best idea so hey ho let's all get on with it, isn't Boris a silly boy ho ho ho'.

"No, sorry, that won't cut it. The man's changed his line on whether parties happened or not, whether the party was in the garden on the basement, whether there was no party at all, and now it's oh I didn't know it was against the rules. Never mind the moral arguments. He has no credibility whatever the 'enquiry' finds."
