An accident on the M66 is causing long tailbacks to the Edenfield Bypass of up to 90 minutes.
The crash happened earlier this morning between junction two, A58 Rochdale Road (Bury), and junction three, Pilsworth Road (Hollins), southbound of the motorway and is also causing delays through Ramsbottom.
It led to seven miles of congestion.
Lanes were closed while emergency services attended but all lanes are now back open and congestion is slowly clearing.
One driver said: "When I drove past, there was a DPD van with the bonnet all damaged that had been moved to the hard shoulder. It was causing really long delays on the southbound side that stretched back for miles."
