A Lancashire logistics firm has announced the opening of their new 200,000 sq. ft depot in Blackburn.

Fagan & Whalley spent 12 months developing the new site at Frontier Park. With headquarters in Padiham, Fagan & Whalley has been providing transport and distribution services to clients across the UK for almost 100 years.

The move comes four years after the opening of their warehousing facility at Burnley Bridge.

Sam Fagan, Business Strategy Director at Fagan & Whalley said:  “The team has been exceptionally busy over the last 12 months in preparation for our expansion into the new site at Blackburn, and we’re all incredibly excited to now be able to officially open the doors and see it all up and running as part of our UK-wide distribution network.

“Our Burnley Bridge warehouse was built specifically to our own specifications back in 2017, and we’ve been working hard to make sure the new site is well-suited to our requirements as well.

"In addition to bringing the site up to scratch with current health and safety regulations, we’ve been dedicating a lot of time to customising the space to suit our own needs, and the needs of our clients, with the installation of 17,000 new pallet spaces.

“We’ve also purchased three new VNA (very narrow aisle) forklift trucks, which arrived on site just before we officially opened, allowing our teams to make a start on relocating stock within the warehouse in preparation for the site’s launch."

Mr Fagan said the new site had led to the company welcoming three new clients.

He said: "It’s a point of pride for us to be able to look back over the last four years and see how much the warehousing side of our business has grown, especially considering how turbulent things have been for our industry over the last couple of years.

“With demand for warehousing and distribution services ever increasing, we’ve been encouraged to review our operations once more, and have now relocated the busy freight consolidation and distribution services that were operating out of Site One at Padiham to our new Blackburn site.

“The aim with this move will be to further streamline our operations, with Site One serving solely as a transport depot for full-load consignments carried by our articulated fleet, and Frontier Park incorporating our cross-dock operations to facilitate freight consolidation for part-loads and groupage consignments.

"We’re pleased to say that the move has gone smoothly, and we’re looking forward to the new opportunities that will be afforded as a result of our new site at Frontier Park now officially being open!”
