A teenager has been arrested on assault charges following three separate incidents.

On Thursday morning, officers from Blackburn with Darwen's neighbourhood policing team carried out a pre-planned arrest of the 14-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons.

Police believe the boy, from Darwen, has been involved in three separate violent incidents and was arrested on suspicion of affray, section 18 assault and section 47 assault.

He was also arrested for resisting arrest.

He is in custody awaiting interview.

A spokesperson for the police said: "This morning Blackburn with Darwen neighbourhood policing team conducted a pre-planned arrest of a 14-year-old local male.

"It is believed the male has been involved in three separate incidents.

"He has been arrested for affray, section 18 assault, section 47 assault and also resisting arrest.

"The male from Darwen can't be named for legal reasons due to his age, he is currently at Greenbank police station awaiting interview.

"We would like to thank the public for assisting us with our enquiries and appreciate your continued and valued support."
