The incident took place outside Ships and Giggles in Burnley at around 3.10am on December 27.
Police have now released a CCTV image of a man they wish to speak with in connection with the serious assault.
Police were called to the incident in Hargreaves Street and found the victim, a man aged in his 40s, had been punched, resulting in him being knocked unconscious.
The victim required medical treatment where it was confirmed that he had sustained serious injuries, which included a broken jaw and nose.
The officer in the case, Hannah Hogg, said: “We would urge anyone who recognises this man to speak to police immediately.
