TIME was when you would find sub post offices like this dotted all over East Lancashire.
Now it’s more likely to find a post office counter in a supermarket or even a petrol station but in 1972 when this picture was taken, the sub post officer played a key role in the community.
This particular one was at Nova Scotia on Bolton Road in Blackburn near to where the current B&Q store and retail development is.
One pension day you’d often see a queue of people waiting to collect their weekly payment or perhaps going in to buy a postal order.
