FAMILIES, friends, clubs and solo walkers are invited to join in the Big Rossendale Winter Walk.

Rossendale Connected group is organising the event as part of Together We Move, which encourages people to motivate friends and family to try new activities, get fitter and exercise together.

Project lead and head of operations at Rossendale Leisure Trust, Phill Holden, said: “On January 22 we want to encourage as many people as possible to get out walking.

“There is no set time or distance and there is no starting point because we want people to walk from their own doorsteps for a least 30-minutes and as far as they wish.

“We have fantastic hills, footpaths, nature trails and parks to explore and people can register their walks at www.togetherwemove.uk/pledge”

Anyone posting on social media about their walk is asked to use #togetherwemoverossendale and #rossendale connected.

Together We Move is part of a larger Pennine Project Together an Active Future (TaAF) which is funded by Sport England to make it easier for people to become active. TaAF is delivered locally by Rossendale Leisure Trust and partners.

Rossendale Connected is a multi-agency partnership linking different organisations which was set up when the first lockdown was announced in March 2020 to support vulnerable residents who were self-isolating or shielding during the pandemic and needed assistance.

The hub is a partnership between Rossendale Council, Rossendale Leisure Trust, Lancashire County Council, Burnley Pendle Rossendale Council for Voluntary Service, Lancashire Police and Rossendale Primary Care Network, community and voluntary groups alongside many volunteers.
