A busy Blackburn road was closed following a collision late at night.
The incident happened close to midnight (January 9) on Barbara Castle Way at the junction with Victoria Street.
Emergency services were on the scene and pictures show wreckage from two cars, one of which was a Mercedes, strewn across the pavement and road.
There was also damage to the traffic lights on the dual carriageway.
This morning, a large section of a lane on Barbara Castle Way turning right on to Victoria Street remained cordoned off. Drivers can still turn right at the junction, which leads on the Whalley Range shopping district.
The traffic lights have been damaged extensively and were a crumpled heap of metal and wires following the crash (Pictures LT)
