An abandoned theme park will be resurrected as a terrifying zombie drive-thru experience.

Camelot Theme Park will be opening the gates for the first time in 10 years as part of a film night drive-in apocalypse experience.

Camelot Rises will arrive at the derelict site in February with horror fans able to park up and watch scary movies before taking a drive around the site which has been overrun by zombies.

Cars will navigate their way around the military checkpoints and nightmarish scenes.

The organisers said: “This is Camelot, but not as you know it. Drive-in to the post-apocalyptic, zombie infested world of Camelot Rises.

“A deadly accident has left the mythical world of Camelot destroyed…and full of zombies hungry for human flesh.

“As the army fight to keep control of the park, it’s your turn to see if you can survive a deadly night of terror.

“With a fully immersive, interactive zombie experience, tantalising food and drink to gorge on, and a host of the greatest (and scariest!) zombie films ever made, this is an experience not to be missed – if you can handle it.”

The fright nights will take place throughout February and March - at a cost of £50 per car - and will see horror fans park up in the grounds of the abandoned park to watch scary films on outdoor screens from the comfort of their cars.

A number of zombie films will be shown including Insidious, Annabelle Comes Home, A Quiet Place and Night of the Living Dead.

The events will run every Thursday to Sunday from February 4 until March 6.

There will also be a bar and food stalls at the event for those who aren’t too scared to get out of their cars.
