AROUND half of the eligible population in Blackburn with Darwen are yet to receive their Covid-19 booster jab, with the area having one of the lowest uptake rates in the country.

The figures, compiled with NHS England data, show vaccinations up to January 2 and population figures are taken from the Office for National Statistics, which are the best publicly available official estimates.

Of the 56,043 who are eligible to receive their booster jab, only 50.3 per cent of those people have taken it.

Figures vary across East Lancashire, with the Ribble Valley leading the way. 74.5 per cent of their 37,283 eligible have so far been out to get their booster.
