Hoping to have his 50 years voluntary charity work recognised in the New Year’s Honours, I nominated a colleague for an honour. My hopes were in vain.

In 2003, using what time has proved to be a ‘dodgy dossier’ Tony Blair persuaded Parliament to support a war in Iraq.

The result was the Middle East has been turned into turmoil along with many other countries, indeed the effects are still being felt today.

Billions of pounds have been wasted. Millions of people have been displaced. Hundreds of thousands, including many of our military have died.

If this is what you have to do to get a Knighthood then there is something very sadly wrong with society. It would be interesting to know who nominated him!
