MUSIC stars and pop sensations will descend on Blackburn in 2022 for a brand new festival.

Ewood Park will welcome acts such as Human League, Boy George, Midge Ure, Heather Small and Tony Hadley to the ground in May as part of a new three-day festival named SummerFest.

The event, which will take place from May 27, will also see Kim Wilde and UB40 perform to thousands.

UB40 will feature Ali Campbell and take to the stage in a set in memory of former member of the group Astro, who passed away in December following a short illness.

The event was originally set to take place in Wigan, but due to unforeseen circumstances a new venue had to be found, which brought organisers to Blackburn.

It will be the first event of its kind at the stadium since 15,000 spectators packed into Ewood Park to enjoy an evening with Sir Elton John back in June 2017 as part of his ‘Wonderful Crazy Night’ tour.

Tickets for SummerFest go on sale next Friday (January 7th) at 10am from www.summerfestevents.co.uk.
