I very rarely travel into Blackburn since the Covid-19 pandemic has been running rife.
Yet this week, myself and my wife visited Home Bargains at Whitebirk and we were stunned to find at least 50 per cent of people were not wearing a face mask, as the government mandate stipulates.
There were whole families of five or six people without a single mask between them. I asked a member of staff why this was, and she said, “we can’t force people to wear them, even though I feel vulnerable myself.”
They even had a recorded message playing over the speakers stating that it was law to wear a face covering while in the store. What a joke!
Are these people so hard-headed that they could not care less about 100,000 people catching Covid-19 every day in the country at the moment?
The whole point is to protect others and look after each other. These ignorant people should go to the cemetery in Blackburn and see just how many poor souls have lost their lives to Covid-19.
No wonder 35,000 people have had it in Blackburn – what a very sad state of affairs for the town.
