A MAN in his 40s was taken to hospital following a crash between three vehicles.
At around 8.15pm on Tuesday, emergency services, including the fire service, were called to Bankhouse Road in Nelson after receiving reports of a crash.
The incident involved three vehicles with firefighters required to help one person from their car before they were handed over to paramedics and taken to hospital.
A spokesperson for the ambulance service said: "We can confirm we took a man in his 40s to hospital."
A fire service spokesperson said: "At 8.16pm on December 28, two fire engines from Nelson and Colne attended a road traffic collision on Bankhouse Road, Nelson.
"The incident involved three vehicles. Firefighters released one casualty from their vehicle before placing the individual in the care of paramedics. Crews then worked to make the scene safe. They were in attendance for approximately an hour."
