THE major refurbishment of a village pub is set to get underway in 2022, once a new licensee has been recruited.

The £400,000 revamp will see Heineken-owned Star Pubs & Bars upgrade the The Feilden’s Arms, Mellor Brook, giving the area a gastro-pub with what is hoped to be ‘a reputation for high quality food and cask ales’.

Located in the heart of the village, the investment will create an open plan drinking dining area and see the conservatory replaced with a larger more stylish version with doors leading to a new terrace.

The former disused games room will be turned into additional dining space with doors opening onto the terrace.

The interior will be redecorated and furniture will be replaced to give the pub an upmarket, stylish country look and feel – with greenery hanging from the ceiling, open fires, timber clad bar and flag stone flooring.

The pub’s six en-suite bedrooms are to be redecorated and upgraded with flat screen TVs, new beds and WiFi and the bathrooms refitted.

Outside, a new wraparound terraced seating area is being created and the beer garden extended to double seating for alfresco dining from 32 to 64.

Chris Newsham, Star Pubs & Bars’ area manager said: “We want to see The Feilden’s Arms become both a buzzing hub of the village and attract customers and tourists from further afield.

“The investment will enhance its appeal massively and the new bedrooms meet the needs both of discerning tourists and business users such as visitors to the nearby BAE systems.

“The Feilden’s Arms offers a great opportunity for someone who wants to be part of the community and run a real village pub in the stunning Ribble Valley with the benefit of three income streams: food, drink and rooms.

“I hope 2022 will be a great year for residents of Mellor Brook and see The Feilden’s Arms realise its potential.”
