The roof of a detached house went up in smoke on Monday.

Fire crews from Clitheroe, Nelson, Barnoldswick and Preston, as well as the aerial ladder platform from Preston attended a fore on Stump Cross Lane in Bolton-by-Bowland at 5.30pm on Monday.

The roof of a detached house was well alight when crews arrived.

Luckily, no-one was hurt in the fire, but it took crews two hours and 45 minutes to extinguish the blaze.

A spokesperson for the fire service said: "At 5.30pm on December 27, five fire engines from Clitheroe, Nelson, Barnoldswick, and Preston, as well as an aerial ladder platform (ALP) from Preston, attended a domestic building fire on Stump Cross Lane, Bolton-by-Bowland.

"The incident involved the roof of a detached house that was well alight when crews arrived.

"Firefighters used one jet, one hose reel, and a thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire and check for hotspots.

"They then continued to dampen down the affected areas.

"No injuries were reported.

"Crews were in attendance for two and the quarter hours."
