Among the many changes during the regeneration work in Blackburn town centre in the Sixties, this new building is often forgotten.
This photo from 1966 shows the Regent Hotel on Penny Street, nearing completion. By the mid 1970s the pub had gained a reputation for its regular live music nights.
It was also noticeable for initially having an off licence attached (on the right on the building) and it also had a revolving door inside the main entrance which could have caused a few issues with those who had had one too many!
