A touching animation, voiced by Jordan North, of a family taking in a widowed Burnley FC fan over Christmas has been released by the team to wish their fans peace and goodwill over the festive season.
The animation, called One Small Act, follows the success of the film Where We Belong, commissioned by the club to welcome the return of fans into the ground in August, which was nominated for a prestigious Broadcast Sport Award.
The Christmas film tells the story of a young Burnley fan who leaves her favourite cuddly toy, Bertie Bee (the club’s mascot), on a park bench before it’s found and returned by fellow supporter, pensioner Leslie.
Leslie’s act of kindness is rewarded when the lonely widower is invited to spend Christmas Day with the family and is given a Boxing Day ticket as a present.
Sadly, due to a Covid outbreak in the Everton squad, this years Boxing Day match at Turf Moor has been postponed.
Radio 1 DJ and Clarets fan Jordan said: "The Boxing Day game is one of the first fixtures you look at in the summer when the fixture list comes in because who Burnley is playing on Boxing Day is a big part of Christmas.
"For me, if Burnley is playing on Boxing Day, it’s just as good as Christmas day. The ideal Christmas for me is: Christmas back home and then on the Boxing Day we’re playing at Turf Moor.
"I used to go as a kid all the time, we always went with my Dad, he took us to every game he could – and it was a big family outing with my dad, my uncle and all my brothers.
"Burnley and The Turf is a big part of my family’s Christmas Day and many other football fans as well."
The animation was commissioned by the club and produced by Preston-based production company, Route Nine Studios.
Burnley FC Chairman, Alan Pace, said: “Where We Belong was a great way to welcome back our supporters and share some of the amazing memories and stories that connect us all.
"As we celebrate this special time of year, we wanted to send our best Christmas wishes in this holiday season with a special message of how every act of kindness counts, even One Small Act.”
Teri Moran-Dawson, co-founder of Route Nine Studios, added: "We were so excited to work on the first film so it’s a real treat to be asked to make a second, especially one that celebrates Christmas. We hope the story and characters find a special place in the hearts of fans.”
The animation features original music by Sylvia Navarro of Bleeding Fingers Music, the collective co-founded by Oscar-winning film score composer, Hans Zimmer.
