A WHITWORTH woman spread some festive goodwill with her work colleagues by staging an event and raised more than £2,000 in toys for Bauer Radio’s charity Cash for Kids campaign this festive season.

Each year Cash for Kids run their ‘Mission Christmas’ campaign, which asks people to buy an extra Christmas gift that can be donated to families struggling at this time of year.

Cash for Kids is a grant-giving charity, part of the Bauer Radio network, including Hits Radio Manchester and Key Radio. They raise funds for voluntary and charitable projects that work directly with disadvantaged children across Greater Manchester.

Nicola Baron, who joined The Vita Group in 2019, had previously supported Cash for Kids in another workplace for many years. She held a fundraising event at Vita’s Middleton headquarters on December 3, raising £2,275 with help from her colleagues Vicky Kennedy and Lee Greaves.

Nicola organised a raffle, asked for toy donations in exchange for tickets, and arranged fabulous prizes, including luxury hampers and spa treats donated by local companies.

Nicola, sales administrator, said: “Cash for Kids is a charity both me and my husband hold close to our heart.

“We are fortunate to give our two children lots of lovely presents at Christmas, but I am aware that many children do not have the same privilege.

“Having now raised over £2,000 that has been spent on toys for children in the region this Christmas, it has made me really proud of the whole team. We have so much to gift; it truly is amazing. “

The Vita Group’s CEO, Ian Robb, made the draw in his Christmas jumper.

Ian said: “Nicola is a real unsung hero; throughout the year, she organises several events to raise money for charity, which is a wonderful thing to do.

“She has always supported Mission Christmas, and we all like to help her to raise as much as we can, to help make sure that no child is forgotten at Christmas.”
