A man and a woman have been taken to hospital following a crash on the Grane Road.
At around 7.20am on Friday emergency services were called to the Grane Road close to Haslingden after a crash between a Mini and a Citroen C4.
Fire crews from Haslingden and Rawtenstall were required to assist in freeing one person from one of the vehicles.
That person and the driver of the second car were then taken to hospital.
It is believed part of the Grane Road is blocked and traffic is building in both directions.
A spokesperson for the fire service said: "Two fire engines from Haslingden and Rawtenstall attended a road traffic collision on Grane Road, Haslingden.
"The incident involved two vehicles.
"Firefighters released one casualty from their vehicle using stabilisation equipment and bolt croppers.
"Two casualties were conveyed to the hospital by North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) paramedics.
"Crews were in attendance for around an hour."
A police spokesperson said they were not aware of any road closures, although it appeared some oil had spilled onto the carriageway, with officers still being in attendance at 9am.
An ambulance service spokesperson said: "We took a man and a woman to the Royal Preston Hospital with potentially serious injuries following an assessment at the scene."
